2183387 Private Robert Henry Jones was born on March 20, 1891 in Oxbridge Ontario. Private Jones was a persistent man, there are no less than three service numbers in the archives and two sets of attestation papers. Private Jones was discharged for poor eye sight after serving 6 months with the 157 OS Bn C.E.F. He was finally able to enlist on April 2, 1917 in Winnipeg Manitoba in the Independent Forestry Co. M.D. 10 C.E.F with 20/20 vision.
At the time of his third and successful enlistment, Private Jones was actually residing with his wife Irene in Barrie Ontario and was an express driver by trade.
Above are two markers, both for Private Jones, one has a birth date of 1891 and the second is 1892. His attestation papers indicate 1891.
