1013484 Private William John McElhinney was born on December 5, 1878 in Woodbridge, Ontario. He would enlist on March 5, 1917 in Brockville, Ontario at the age of 37. At the time of his enlistment, he was married to Marguerite and resided in Campbellford, Ontario. At some time during his military service, Private McElhinney was invalided back to Canada for further treatment. He would eventually die due to wounds from his military service on March 3, 1921 at the age of 42.
