Private Walter Colbran
3130414 Private Walter Colbran was born in 1886, there is no attestation paper available in the archives. I am assuming that he was from the Newmarket area as this is were he is buried and that is were his parents resided, or at least his mother did at the time of his death on February 3, 1918 at the age of 33. A CWGC designation indicates that Private Colbran died as a direct result of his military service. It is not known if he was killed in action or died at a later date. The last major battle that the Canadians were involved just prior to his death was the Battle of Passchendaele.

Private Herman C. Brown
27042 Private Herman Clifton Brown, was born in Aurora in 1894, unfortunately a attestation paper can not be located, although the regimental number and name do appear in the Library and Archives Canada. The headstone is a C.W.G.C. monument indicating that Private Brown was killed in action or died as the result of action in 1918 at the age of 24. There appear to be errors on the marker. The first is the middle initial, it clearly is a "G", then the year of death is clearly "1915". The C.W.G.C. information states the year of death as 1918 and that the middle initial is "C". The link listed below is the C.W.G.C. remembrance certificate.
